The T.A. Dugger Jr. Cyclones picked up right where they left off offensively in 2023 as Coach Brock Pittman’s team traveled to Jonesborough to take on the Crockett Jr. Pioneers on Thursday evening.
Behind an impressive performance by eighth-grade running back Legend Pate, the Jr. Cyclones dominated the Jr. Pioneers, securing a 43-6 victory to go 1-0 in the 2024 season opener.
Pate scored four touchdowns on runs of 80, 40, 2, and 40 yards to help the Jr. Cyclones pull away from the home team.
Quarterback Creed Baker also connected with Anthony Orton on a 25-yard touchdown pass and found Max Fields for a two-point conversion.
Callen Reed contributed a three-yard rushing touchdown for TAD, and Carson Thompson converted a point-after attempt.
“I am proud of our effort,” Pittman said about his team’s win. “We are fortunate to have all these great kids and coaches. We need to improve before we head to Sullivan Heights next Thursday, and we will. Elizabethton really showed up tonight, and we are grateful for the fan support. Go Cyclones!”
