George Ronald Harrison, 74, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the residence of his daughter, Ronda.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late George Samuel and Grace Myrtle Lea Calhoun Harrison.
George was a graduate of Happy Valley High School. He worked at Thomasville Furniture and also Snap-on Tools, Elizabethton. He was in a bowling league, played softball and loved to listen to music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his fiancé, Ruthie Trivette; two brothers, Elmer Harrison and Farrell Harrison; one sister, Geraldine Jones; and one brother-in-law, Gene Ellis.
Survivors include two children, George Gabriel Harrison and wife Lisa, and Ronda Lea Dooley and husband James; six grandchildren, Johnathon Manuel, Jazmyn Manuel, Abagil Harrison, George Zackary Harrison, Josh Harrison and Gracie Burke; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joann Guinn and husband Claude, Maxine Ellis and Christine Hamm; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Tony Hoss, minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be his many friends. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m., prior to the service.
