A missing Carter County man’s body was found Sunday afternoon in the Valley Forge community.
The Carter County Sheriff’s Department reported that the body of Timothy Waycaster, 56, was found off of Long Hollow Road.
On Saturday evening about 10 p.m., Carter County 911 dispatchers received a call that Waycaster had left to go ride an all-terrain vehicle and had not returned.
Family and friends shared on Facebook that he could have been in the Elizabethton and Unicoi areas and asked the public to be on the lookout. The public was advised to watch for a black Tracker 4-wheeler with an orange seat and an orange and camouflage utility bag, according to multiple social media posts.
About 1 p.m., on Sunday, Waycaster was found deceased on private property off of Long Hollow Road in the Valley Forge community, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Department.
“All evidence appears he was involved in an ATV accident,” Carter County Sheriff Mike Fraley said in the news release.
Investigators from the Sheriff’s Department and the Carter County coroner responded to the scene. The Carter County Rescue Squad’s Technical Rescue Team also responded to the scene to assist with the recovery of the body, the release states.
Fraley said the investigation is ongoing.
On Facebook, family and friends described Waycaster as a beloved father, grandfather and friend.
