Carter County Sheriff’s Department reports multiple arrests

 The following arrests have been reported by the Carter County Sheriff’s Office: 

  • On July 26, Deputy Brett Butler responded to an assault with injuries on Buck Mountain Road, Roan Mountain. Joshua Allen Gwyn was arrested and charged with aggravated assault based on evidence and statements at the scene. Gwyn was transported to the Carter County Jail without incident, and a CODIS kit was collected and placed in evidence.
  • On July 26, Deputy Dalton McCloud stopped a silver Ford Focus on West Elk Avenue for a broken taillight. The driver, identified as Dean P. Keller, was found to be driving on a revoked license for a prior DUI conviction. Keller was arrested and taken to the Carter County Detention Center without incident.
  • On July 27, Deputy Thomas Hill took Elijah Adam Taylor into custody at Sinking Creek Church, Elizabethton Hwy., on a capias/presentment warrant out of Carter County Criminal Court. Taylor was transported to the Detention Center without incident.
  • On July 27, Deputy Brett Butler conducted a traffic stop on Edward Monroe Street on Smith Road, Roan Mountain, for failing to stop at a stop sign. Street was found to have a revoked license for a prior DUI. He was arrested and charged with driving on a revoked license and failure to obey traffic signals. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.
  • On July 28, Deputy Heath Taylor arrested Christy Leigh Grindstaff on Sneed Hill Road for an active warrant for failure to appear. Grindstaff was transported to the Carter County Detention Center without incident and is being held on a $500 cash bond.
  • On July 29, Deputy Zach Whaley took Logan S. Storie into custody at the Carter County Detention Center lobby for a warrant for failure to appear. Storie was booked without incident.
  • On July 29, Sgt. Tyler Holsclaw arrested Jason Robert Julian during a traffic stop on Highway 19E for an active warrant for violation of probation. Julian was transported to the Carter County Detention Center without incident.
  • On July 29, Natalie Kimberly Samuels turned herself in at the Carter County Detention Center for an active warrant for violation of probation. She was served without incident.
  • On July 29, Deputy Brett Butler arrested Jordan Tanner Brewer on an active warrant for aggravated assault (domestic violence) after locating him during a traffic stop on Main Street, Roan Mountain. Brewer was transported to the Carter County Jail without incident, and a CODIS kit was collected and placed into evidence.
  • On July 31, Sgt. Justin Johnson, along with Deputies Brett Butler, Hunter Skalecki, and Donovan Bemiller, arrested Scotty L. Ruble on Journeys End Road. Ruble was wanted by Indio Superior Court (Riverside County, Calif.) for vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. He was charged as a fugitive from justice and transported to the Carter County Detention Center.
  • On July 31, Deputy Philip Tremblay arrested Patricia Annette Whitehead on Watauga Road for an outstanding parole violation warrant. Whitehead was transported to the Carter County Jail without incident.
  • On July 31, Deputy Donovan Bemiller arrested Kaci D. Heaton at Stateline Market #2 on Highway 19E for driving while license revoked. Heaton’s vehicle was left at the store for the owner to retrieve, and she was charged with driving while license revoked (first offense).
  • On August 1, deputies from the Carter County Sheriff’s Office arrested Frankie L. Humbard on South Main Street for an active warrant for aggravated domestic assault. Humbard was transported to the Carter County Detention Center without incident.
  • On August 1, Deputy Hunter Skalecki arrested Christopher Price on Campbell Rash Road, Elizabethton, for aggravated assault (domestic violence) following a physical domestic incident. Price was taken into custody based on the evidence at the scene.

Note: All arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
