How many people came through the line at the Back-2-School Bash by the time the event was scheduled to end?

“I started counting in my mind, but I lost count,” one volunteer near the entrance said.

“I ran out of fingers and toes,” said another.

Judging by the tables filled with composition books, binders, ruled paper, boxes of crayons, and other supplies, students who came to the event will have all they need to write, count, and complete assignments as they start a new academic year.

Students were given a tote bag as they went from table to table, picking up the various supplies, and they had access to health, education, and extracurricular resources to support their overall well-being and academic success.

Gold and Platinum sponsors that helped organize the event included the Elizabethton Police Department, Elizabethton Parks & Rec, Carter County Health Department, Tennessee Army National Guard, East River Park, Snap-on Inc., Calvary Baptist Church, Wellpoint, and Little Caesars. The 2024 Title Sponsor was Eastman Credit Union. Other sponsors included Food City, Ingles, Farm Bureau Insurance, Burgie Drug Store, Happy Valley Credit Union, Northeast Community Credit Union, East River Park Christian Church, and Southside Christian Church.

Students in Elizabethton City Schools and Carter County Schools report for an abbreviated school day on Tuesday, Aug. 6. The first full day of classes will be Thursday, Aug. 8.
