Final First Friday of the season

August 2 closes out the First Friday series in downtown Elizabethton with Hometown Vibes to celebrate “our old soul community, the new stories being created, and this place we call home.”

Visitors to the downtown are invited to explore the boutiques, vintage shops, and art-centric spaces with elevated shopping along with performances and live entertainment throughout downtown.

There will be a mobile food zone on Armed Forces Drive and a community zone in the 400 block breezeway as well a fun zone located on the fire department lawn, which will feature inflatables and yard games.

 

Adult Game Time at the Library

Adult Game Time will be held at the Elizabethton-Carter County Public Library from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. August 5. There are board games, cards and farkle (fun dice games).

The event also features snacks, beverages, as well as endless fun.

 

Wrestle Fest August 3 at Kiwanis Park

Carter County Drug Prevention will present Wrestle Fest August 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Elizabethton Kiwanis Park on West G St. and Carter Blvd.

The event will feature music, food, crafts, prizes, and fun for everyone. There will also be local Wrestlers Meet and Greet, and an opportunity to create your own wrestling mask and a Mr. Socko Make Your Own Puppet Table.

Those attending are asked to dress as your favorite wrestler for a contest, and make sure to bring donations to a food drive for ARM.

 

Old-Time Music Jam at park

An Old-Time Music Jam will be held Sunday at Sycamore Shoals State Park from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Old-time musicians of all levels are welcome. Don’t play an instrument? Come on over, kick back, and enjoy the tunes!

Those attending will meet in the Visitors Center.

 

Butterfly Count will be held Aug. 3

The 20th Annual Butterfly Count will be held August 3 at Sycamore Shoals State Park with Naturalist Don Holt. It will be a day-long event with the morning spent at Sycamore Shoals State Park and the afternoon in other areas of Elizabethton.

There is a small fee to have your name included on the official count list.

The event is sponsored by the North American Butterfly Association.
