A Back to School Bash for Elizabethton City School students will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elizabethton High School, 907 Jason Witten Way. There will be free school supplies, free community resources, and free food for students to celebrate the 2024-2025 school year.

 

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) will meet at First Baptist Church, 212 East F St., Elizabethton. Weigh-in begins at 5:30-6:30 p.m. with the meeting starting at 6:45 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings. Saturday, Aug. 10

A Gardening Seminar will be held at Sycamore Shoals State Park in Elizabethton from 9 a.m. until noon. The seminar, free to the public, will be held in the community room at the park. The subjects of the seminar will be Review of summer gardens – What went right and what went wrong; Plant a fall garden – any kind of vegetable is better than weeds; and Pruning of blackberries, blueberries, fruit trees and renovation of strawberries. The seminar will be presented by Master Gardeners Ben Hunter and Cameron Coates. The event is sponsored by the Northeast Tennessee Master Gardeners and Sycamore Shoals State Park.
