Terry Lynn Cox, 56, of Johnson City, Tenn., passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 

Johnson City Medical Center. Terry was born in Johnson City to Gail Bowman Rushing and the late Conway Cox.

Terry retired from Blossman Gas and Propane as a service manager, where he was a dedicated employee for over 25 years. He was a United States Army and National Guard veteran, serving his country with honor in Operation Desert Storm.

Those left to remember and cherish Terry include his mother, Gail Bowman Rushing of Limestone; three children, Desiree Smith and husband Kyle of Elizabethton, Kela Hartley and husband Cody, also of Elizabethton, and Heather Ray and husband Jessie of Church Hill; five grandchildren, Ainsley Hartley, Levi Smith, Isaac Smith, Charlie Ray and Mason Ray; three brothers, Randy Hodge of Limestone, Harold “Herbie” Hodge of Limestone and Roger Cox of Johnson City; one sister, Leesha Draper of Elizabethton; and his friend and the mother of Desiree and Kela, Rebecca Odom of Elizabethton.

A service to celebrate and honor Terry’s life will be conducted at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 21, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Cody Hartley and Pastor Doug Hartley officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., prior to the service on Sunday.  

The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, July 22, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section-53 Memorial Drive). Active pallbearers will be Randy Hodge, Harold “Herbie” Hodge, Roger Cox, Scott Odom, Randy Powers and Gary Burchfield. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Monday. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations in memory of Terry to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
