Marbeth Carolyn Michael, 82, passed away at her residence on July 4, 2024 following an extended illness.

Marbeth was born on August 21, 1941 in North Carolina to Ezekial and Hassie Potter and was raised in Roan Mountain. She was a graduate of Cloudland High School. She attended college in Texas and Tennessee. She loved traveling and was able to visit a lot of countries and most of the United States. She loved gardening and had a garden most years. 

Marbeth had a large family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers and her many nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed going to the casino and was always a winner (at least she thought so). Marbeth opened her home to everyone and was a foster parent for a period of time.

Marbeth was preceded in death by her husband, Terrence Michael; two daughters, Jacintha Worrell and Krista Cole; two sons, James Small and Ronald Small; four sisters, Lois Vargo, Jean Hollifield, Joyce Peters and Vivian Griner; one brother, Ray Potter, one grandchild, Hyatt; and her parents, Ezekiel and Hassie Potter.

Marbeth is survived by her children, John and Lisa Michael, Beverly and Richard Chandley (Cherekee Lowe), Bucky and Eddie Daily, David and Tammy Michael and Jeff and Karen Michael. 

She is survived by siblings, Ralph and Helen Potter, Paris and Joyce Potter and Fay and Mac Woodard. Marbeth is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  

Marbeth loved and was loved by many. She will be greatly missed.
