Rosa Lee Oxendine Stevens, 96, Arden, N.C., formerly of Hampton, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the residence of her son, Cotton, Arden, N.C. She was born July 15, 1927 in Roan Mountain to the late George and Eva Jane Morgan Oxendine.
Rosa was employed for several years in the Textile Industries. She was a 71-year member of Sycamore Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She was the last Charter member of Sunset Free Will Baptist Church. She loved to quilt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Conley Stevens; son, Conley Lee Stevens; and four sisters, Lonnie Hill, Glenna Boling, Geneva Odom and JoAnn Hill; and one brother, Harvey Oxendine.
Survivors include her children, Shawana Brewer, Gulf Shores, Ala., and Cotton Stevens and his wife Susan, Arden, N.C.; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Patsy Hudgins, Morganton, N.C.; one brother, Jim Oxendine and wife Velma, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Rosa Stevens will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Terry Richardson officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 2 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sunset Free Will Baptist Church, 6676 US Highway 19E, Roan Mountain, TN 37687.
