Patsy Presnell Johnson, 78, of Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Bertha Tinkle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd William Presnell; two sisters, Eula Tester and Sue Cornett; brother, Edwin Tinkle; daughter, Misty Dawn Presnell; and step-son, Jack Presnell.

Patsy retired after 15 years of service at H.I.S. Sportswear. She was a member of True Gospel Baptist Church. Patsy enjoyed embroidering, sewing, singing, reading and listening to gospel music.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kristi Henley and husband Jonathan of Elizabethton; step-daughter, Carolyn Bowman and husband Jimmy of Johnson City; and two step-grandchildren, Angie and Kimberly. Several step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of Patsy will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 13, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Dr. Dean Presnell and Rev. Mack Presnell officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mike Presnell and Mack Presnell. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence at any time.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 14, in the Markland Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home at 2:15 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Victoria Shankle and all the nurses on the 3rd floor at Sycamore Shoals Hospital for all their loving care given to Patsy. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Carter County Animal Shelter, 135 Sycamore Shoals Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
