The Elizabethton Police Department has announced road closures in preparation for the Independence Day Celebration.

Starting at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, East Elk Avenue from Riverside Drive to the monument, including the Academy Street entrance, will be closed.

At 7 p.m., East Elk Avenue from South Sycamore Street to Riverside Drive, encompassing the entire 600 block, will also be closed.

The Independence Day Celebration is set to begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
