July 4th fireworks events, displays in the area

Several events and fireworks displays have been planned in the area in celebration of July 4th.

– The City of Elizabethton will present an Independence Day Celebration Thursday at the Covered Bridge Park. The celebration will begin at 4 p.m., and will include food trucks, a patriotic bike contest, patriotic pup pageant, free inflatables, Annual Little Miss Firecracker Pageant, dancing, and music.

A very special fireworks finale sponsored by Tour Carter County and the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce will close out the evening around 9 p.m.

– Watauga Lake Boat Parade will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Watauga Lake, beginning at Watauga Dam, proceeding from the picnic area to the Butler Bridge. Judging of boats will take place at 12 noon. The houseboat winner from last year will lead the parade this year

– Annual Pepsi Independence Day Fireworks celebration at Freedom Hall. Live music starts at 6 p.m. with fireworks at 10 p.m.

– Red, White and Boom Celebration July 6 in downtown Kingsport starting at 5 p.m. featuring the Marshall Tucker Band and the Cleverlys at 5 p.m. Fireworks will be at 9:45 p.m.

– Bristol, Tn/Va will have a Star Spangled Fireworks Display July 4 in Anderson Park with activities beginning at 6 p.m. and fireworks at 10 p.m.

– Jonesborough Days in downtown Jonesborough Thursday through Saturday with events from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day. A fireworks celebration will be held Saturday, July 6, at 10 p.m. The festival will begin Thursday at 10 a.m. downtown with a parade to kick off the festivities.

– Freedom Fest Independence Day Celebration at the Unicoi Elementary School, beginning at 5 p.m. and continuing until 10 p.m. There will be music, live music and fireworks. Music will be by the Dimestore Cowboys and Willie Vance & the Stellar Spurs. Fireworks will end the evening, and will be shot off-site.

– Fireworks will be at Lakeshore and Mallard Cove Marinas on Watauga Lake July 6.
