TBI investigating officer-involved shooting in Johnson City

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday night in Johnson City, according to a TBI release.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., the release said, two officers with the Johnson City Police Department responded to a domestic assault call in the 100 block of West Chestnut Street. After officers arrived on the scene, a male resident holding a shotgun came out of the house.

Preliminary reports from the scene indicate that during an altercation, the man fired his weapon; the officers also fired, striking the man, who was transported to a local hospital. No officers were injured during the incident.

At the request of 1st Judicial District Attorney General Steve Finney, TBI agents are investigating the incident.
