Churchill Winston Hill, 80, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024, at his home. Churchill was born August 5, 1943 in Norway, Maine to the late Charles Wilson Hill and Mildred Allen Hill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl Hill, Charlie Hill and Billy Hill, and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Williams.
Churchill worked for ten years at Eastman Chemical Company. He also worked with the Johnson City School System and retired from Elizabethton High School where he was an IT technician. He was a retired United States Army and National Guard Veteran, having served in the Desert Storm War.
Churchill owned and operated Hill’s Paint and Classic Cars. He was a well-known painter in the area. His art can be seen in many church baptistries in the area as well as his painting “The Rapture.” He was well known for his Elvis Presley van painting.
Those left to cherish and remember Churchill include his beloved wife of 56 years, Roxie Williams Hill, of the home; his daughters, Lori Hill of the home and Robin McGee (Travis) of Fredericksburg, Va.; five grandchildren, Catlin Hill, Cody Hartley, Curtis Bennett, Dalton Shelton and Lexie McGee; four great-grandchildren, Skyla Hill, Ariea Hill, Dakota Wilson and Ainsley Hartley; one brother, Clarence Hill of Maine; and four sisters, Mona Hill, Marie Struven and Millie Naylor, all of Maine and Margie Pickel of Pennsylvania.
A celebration of Churchill’s life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 13, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Cody Hartley officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. Friends may also pay their respects on Thursday, June 13, between the hours of 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 14, in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jason Buckles, Justin Buckles, Jason Wilson, Dalton Shelton, Cody Hartley, Curtis Bennet and Bob Nave. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. Friday. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gena Carrahan with Caris Hospice and Dayla Capallis with Silver Angels for their care during Churchill’s illness.
