Britt Barnett, 73, of Roan Mountain, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 12, 2024. He was born to the late Ralph and Stacey Garland Barnett in Mitchell County, N.C.

Britt was of the Baptist faith and served as a deacon. He loved raising honey bees and was known as the “Bee Man” of Roan Mountain. Britt enjoyed flying model airplanes, fishing and raising chickens. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Brenda Jarrett Barnett of the home; a daughter, Beverly Oxentine (Michael) of Morganton, N.C.; two grandchildren, Brittany Weise (Brandon) of Marion, N.C., and Jordan Oxentine (fiancée Brittany Gibson) of Lincolnton, N.C.; one great-granddaughter, Hannah Weise of Marion, N.C.; and a sister, Jean Carver of Icard, N.C.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Barnett will be held on Saturday, May 18, at 2 p.m. at Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain Chapel, with Rev. Randy English officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of service. Honorary pallbearers will be
