East Tennessee State University is preparing to honor its Golden 50s alumni.
Each spring, the 50-year class celebrates its golden graduation anniversary. Those who graduated 50 years ago are inducted into the Golden 50s Club and honored at events throughout the weekend, including spring commencement on Saturday, May 4. The Golden 50s are honored at the morning ceremony, beginning at 10 a.m. in the Ballad Health Athletic Center.
During the ceremony, the Golden 50s stand alongside the Class of 2024 and are honored at the graduation festivities, while donning golden caps and gowns that set them apart from the current graduating class, which wears blue caps and gowns.
“It’s a time when all graduates of different majors and concentrations from decades past gather together to show the true legacy of ETSU and how it impacted their lives,” said Lee Ann Davis, director of alumni programs.
Those who are already members of the Golden 50s Club are invited to attend the weekend festivities.
