Hazel Marie Pierce (nee: Heaton), 81, of Grafton and Coshocton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024 at her residence surrounded by the love of her life and her family. Hazel grew up in Elizabethton, Tenn. Hazel was married to Gary for almost 67 years. She loved to quilt, garden, fish, hunt, raise chickens and canning foods from her garden. She loved to go to their camp in Canada to fish. She loved finding unique rocks.
Hazel enjoyed living a natural/ holistic lifestyle. She ran Pierce’s Archery of Grafton for over 20 years and built several houses with Gary. She and Gary loved listening to country music and being together. Hazel always put the needs of others before her own and took care of the people she loved.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Gary; sons, Gary Lynn (Belinda) Pierce, Terry Patrick (Sandy) Pierce; sister, Shirley Irick; six grandchildren, Amanda (Nick) Warner, Amber (Joe) Pierce-Smith, Heather (Andrew) Daniels, Deanna Pierce, Heath Pierce and Dana Pierce; five great-grandchildren, Troy, Mason, Quinn, Jace and Arya; daughter-in-law, Lora Pierce; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the daughter of the late Roma and Ida Banner Heaton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Ray Pierce; sister, Ruby Banner; four brothers, Roma Heaton Jr., Clyde Heaton, Charles Heaton and L.J. Heaton; and grandson, Timothy Ray Pierce Jr.
