Charles Howard Pearson, 84, Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 19, 2024, at his residence. He was born November 6, 1939 in Poolesville, Md., to the late Viola “Katie” and Roy Pearson.

Charles was retired from Interstate Graphics in Johnson City, Tenn. He was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church and served in several roles, including as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and in Children’s Church. Charles was a Godfearing man, devoted husband, father and a friend to everyone. He was loved especially by his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed serving at church, fishing on Watauga Lake, strumming at his guitar, and listening to Bluegrass music.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his lifelong love, Shirley Jean Pearson and grandson Collin Bare; his brothers and sister, Mabel Pearson, Paul Pearson, Roy Pearson, Carl “Brother” Pearson and James “Sonny” Pearson.

He is survived by three children, Vickie McKinney and Brad of Hiwassee, Va., Charles Pearson Jr. and Tina of Cumming, Ga., and Carol Bare and Barney of Jonesborough, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Brittany Mullins and husband Levi, Jonathan McKinney and wife Mary, Grace Pearson and Sophia Pearson; four great-grandchildren, Charles, Oliver, Edward and Jackson; his sisters-in-law, Barbara Pearson and Barbara Kimbrel; and several nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mark Fowler officiating. Music will be provided by Greg Ruston. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be his church family. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website, www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
