To the Editor:
Thanks to the Elizabethton Star and Jerry Agan for the important article “Spring into action: Planning, Planting and frost in East TN.” It’s great to read that our students at Hampton High School and Elizabethton High School are learning to grow plants in their greenhouses.
I agree with Jerry Agan that people should buy their vegetable plants and flowers from these students. I got some last Saturday morning from Hampton High School. The cost for three vegetable plants in each tray was only $1. They have flowers that would be great for Mother’s Day.
Agan said, “By choosing these programs you’re not just getting quality plants; you’re nurturing the future of agriculture in our community.” Thank God it isn’t illegal to grow a garden in Tennessee. It’s illegal to grow a garden on your own property in 13 states. Oregon has even made it illegal to collect and use your own rain water!
It’s great that our local schools are teaching about the importance of agriculture. Many schools scare and stress students with exaggeration and misinformation such as the lie that climate change by humans is destroying the planet. Humans have about as much environmental impact as spitting in Watauga Lake would affect it. Most schools and over a billion people observe or celebrate Earth Day on April 22 each year.
Carbon dioxide is less than one percent of our atmosphere and humans only contribute four percent of the carbon dioxide, the rest coming from oceans, decaying vegetation and volcanoes. Because of changes in atmospheric circulation patterns and record hot ocean temperatures, 2024 is expected to have record hurricanes and high temperatures. The high water temperatures are caused by active volcanoes under the ocean waters.
Environmentalists wrongly put the planet over people. Environmentalists and mass shooter Goeser killed 10 people to lower the population and save the planet. Many promote evil abortion for the same reason. Billionaire Elon Musk said most believe the lie that we have overpopulation, but, in fact, the population is going down on the planet.
The Christian priority is to put people first by telling them about Jesus and that Jesus is their greatest need. The Bible says we are to be good stewards of the earth. But we can’t save it.
Only Jesus can save the earth and each of us.
