Allison N. Dugger, of Elizabethton, formerly of the Poga Community of Butler, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on May 12, 1944 to the late Abraham W.A. Dugger and Missouri Jane “Zudy” (Hicks) Dugger, he was a lifelong native of Carter County. In addition to his parents, Allison was preceded in death by his brothers, Mathis Dugger, Roy Dugger, Charles Dugger, Dewey Dugger and William “Bill” Hicks, and a nephew, Randy Dugger.

Allison served his country as a United States Army veteran in the Vietnam War. He was of the Baptist faith and had worked in various manufacturing factories in the area.

Allison is survived by his son, Allison “Wayne” Dugger of High Point, N.C.; his sister, Wanda Dugger Guy of Johnson City, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Dani Payne and Christopher Dugger; and several nieces and nephews, Jill Plummer, Valerie Dugger, Brenda Dugger and Dexter Hicks.

An open visitation will be conducted at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton on Tuesday, April 16, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for those wishing to sign the guest book and pay their respects.

A graveside service to remember and celebrate Allison’s life will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, in the Historic Section of Mountain Home National Cemetery with Mr. Dean Estep, minister, officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday.
