Jeffrey Chad Highsmith, 30, of Hampton, Tenn., passed away on March 12, 2024 at his home. Jeffrey was born in Elizabethton, Tenn., to Frank Highsmith and Leslie Davenport. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Richard Highsmith; his aunt, Ann Hicks; his paternal grandparents, J.B. and Peggy Highsmith; and his maternal grandparents, Roy and Pat Tester.

Jeffrey had been employed with Appalachian Highland Plumbing where he worked with his good friends, Lesley Tolley, Logan Ingram and Stuart Ingram. He was a very sweet young man, who got along with everyone, although he was a man of very few words. He would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. Jeffrey loved his son more than life! He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and riding go carts with his son. He also loved spending time with his friends working on cars.

Those left to cherish and remember Jeffrey include his mother, Leslie Davenport and husband Steve of Hampton; his father, Frank Highsmith of Roan Mountain; his son, J.B. Highsmith of Hampton; his brother, Chris Highsmith and wife Jessica of Elizabethton; his nephews, Clayton Hinkle and Bubbie Hinkle, both of Elizabethton; his stepsister, Maggie Charles and husband Josh; and his stepbrothers, Nathaniel Davenport and wife Beth of Virginia and Jeremy Davenport and wife Chasity of Ohio. Several nieces and nephews and other extended family also survive.

A service to celebrate Jeffrey’s life will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 16, in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Terry Jones officiating. Music will be under the direction of his cousin, Chad Jones. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow in the Captain Nelson Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Anthony Chambers, Tony Chambers, Chris Highsmith, Tommy Williams, Justin Hinkle, Abe Delp and Joseph Tester. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Davenport, Scott Arnett, Adam Jones and Leslie Tolley. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in memory of Jeffrey.
