ALCOA — The Hampton Bulldog boys’ basketball season came to a close Saturday night at Alcoa, where they suffered a 70-55 defeat against the Tornadoes. The game started competitively, with the Dogs trailing by only five points, 23-18, after the first quarter. However, their offense struggled in the second quarter, managing only seven points while Alcoa extended their lead to ten, 35-25, by halftime.
The pivotal moment came in the third quarter, as Alcoa capitalized on their hot shooting while Hampton continued to face difficulties, widening the gap to eighteen points, 54-36, heading into the final period. Despite an improved shooting performance in the fourth quarter by the Dogs, it was insufficient to overturn the deficit, resulting in Alcoa’s 70-55 victory.
The loss marked the Dogs’ third consecutive defeat, concluding their season in the Region Quarterfinals with a final overall record of 18-12.
