FROM STAFF REPORTS
Johnson City Police Department’s Special Victims Unit (SVU) arrested Mitchell Dudek, 26, of Johnson City on Feb. 13, charging him with sexual exploitation of a minor by electronic means. The arrest follows a joint investigation initiated on Jan. 26 between SVU and the Department of Children’s Services regarding allegations of sexual misconduct involving Dudek and a juvenile. Initially, Dudek was arrested on Jan. 26 and charged with statutory rape, later being released on bond on Jan. 29.
As the SVU probe progressed, further interviews and scrutiny of Dudek’s cell phone contents led to additional charges of sexual exploitation of a minor by electronic means.
Dudek was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Detention Center.
Johnson City Police urge individuals who have been sexually assaulted to contact authorities immediately by dialing 911. Victims seeking support can also reach out to the Johnson City/Washington County Family Justice Center to speak with a victim advocate at 423-722-3720.
