Kathleen Williams Verran, 99, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. She was the daughter of the late Lon Williams and Lena Crumley Nave.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Verran; sons, Lloyd Verran, Harley Verran Jr. and Gary Verran; sister, Erma Murphy; brother, Phil Williams; brother-in-law, Herve Murphy; paternal grandparents, Abraham and Loretta Frasier Williams; maternal grandparents, Simpson and Rebecca Lewis Crumley; and step-brothers, Marshall Nave and Jack Nave.
Kathleen was a manager of Carter County Employment Security for 35 years. She was a member of Watauga Point Methodist Church. In her spare time, Kathleen enjoyed reading, dancing and cooking for her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Connie Verran of Elizabethton and Greg Verran (Debbie) of Granite Falls, N.C.; grandchildren, Bridget Mashburn (Kyle) of Johnson City, Kalena Verran of Los Angeles, Calif., and Roger Verran of Johnson City; great-grandchildren, Sydney Mashburn and Kennedy Mashburn, both of Johnson City; and sister, Vonda Verran of Johnson City.
A service to celebrate the life of Kathleen will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, February 16, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Rusty Verran and Rev. Lou Miller officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. The graveside service and committal will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 17, at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Johnson City. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Saturday.
