Dorothy Vee Hampton-Watts went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at her home in Johnson City. Dot was born in Carter County and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was retired from a 40+ year career in the service industry.
Dot was a former member of the Johnson City Elks Lodge and a faithful member of the VFW Auxiliary 2108. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Roan Mountain with her family.
Dorothy “Vee” was preceded in death by her parents, J. Miff Nave and Vada Grindstaff Nave. Her late husband, Samuel Watts, also preceded her in death. She was also preceded by six brothers, Nick, Andy, Marvin, Jimmy, Ronnie and Dizzy Dean. Three sisters also preceded her, Hannah Fair, Nancy White and Mary Lou Nave.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Mickey Honeycutt Jr. and wife Angela and two beloved granddaughters, Marissa Honeycutt Fields and Julia Honeycutt. She is also survived by two sisters, Melba Roark and Doris Lee Grills, and two brothers, Jesse Nave and Albert D. Nave.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 3, between the hours of 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. at Tetrick Funeral Home in Elizabethton with funeral and graveside service to follow at Grindstaff Cemetery on 19E at Valley Forge.
