Hazel F. Bishop passed away peacefully at Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville, Fla., on December 9, 2023. She was born in 1936 in Elizabethton, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Gary Bishop; her parents, Sidney and Anna Richardson; her in-laws, Eugene and Mary Bishop; her brother, Harmon Richardson; her brothers-in-law, Ernie, Albert, Chalmer and Paul; and sisters-in-law, Ella-Mae and Joyce Bishop
She is survived by her loving sons, Jeb (Shirley) from Colorado Springs, Colo., and Lee (Jennette) from Rochester, Wash.; grandchildren, Chris Hurst, (Alicia), from Canon City, Colo., Jackson (Hayley) from Jacksonville, Fla., and Ashley Earle (Joey) from Tampa, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Caspian, Ryker, Kennedy, Aiden and Rosalie; her sister-in-law, Brenda S. Rogers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hazel earned her Bachelor’s Degree from East Tennessee State University in 1957. After earning her degree she worked as a teacher in Tennessee and Florida.
After marrying the love of her life, Gary Bishop, in 1960, they moved to Tallahassee, Fla., and lived there for many years. Hazel was a devoted, loving wife and mother. She blessed us all with her love and strength. Her love and devotion to her family were never wavering. Her family were everything to her; all her children and grandchildren were her masterpiece. She is interred at the Jacksonville Florida National Veterans Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road.
