Myrna Jean Myers Hart, 86, of Watauga, Tenn., passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023, with her family by her side.

Myrna was predeceased by her beloved husband, retired Lieutenant Colonel Kyle Edward Hart; her parents, Blonnie Hyder Myers and Rubin Ralph Myers; and her brother, Dr. R.E. “Rick” Myers.

She is survived by her son, Mike Hart and his wife Evelyn of Watauga; her daughter, Tamara Hart and her husband Michael Jameson of Nashville; her grandchildren, E5 Staff Sergeant David Hart and his wife Grace of Okinawa, Japan, Jewel DeBord and her husband Bjorn of Johnson City, Josh Leonard and his wife Megan of Kingsport, Liam Jameson of Berkeley, Calif., John Jameson of Evanston, Ill.; and great-granddaughter, Parsla DeBord. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Bradley and her husband Bob Bradley of Myrtle Beach; her beloved sister-in-law, Pam Myers of Big Canoe, Ga.; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Stacy and Marty Hart of Nebraska.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lois Herman who was her friend and the best caregiver for the last one and a half years.

Myrna was a Carter County native and graduated from Unaka High School in 1955 and attended East Tennessee State University. She married Kyle in 1957 and they traveled the world while Kyle was in the Army. She and Kyle continued to travel after he retired. She also loved to entertain family and friends and relished her time with her family at the home she and Kyle built in Valley Forge, Tenn.

A private graveside service will be held with family at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were David Hart, Josh Leonard, Bjorn DeBord, Liam Jameson, John Jameson, Daniel Bradley and Richard Myers.

The family promised her that we would gather at Christmas to celebrate her favorite time of year. We will honor that promise and celebrate the life of Myrna Jean Myers Hart on December 27 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Father Timothy Holder. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel prior to the service at 7 p.m. The family would like to extend a thank you to Gail, Josh, Paige and all the hospice staff of Amedisys Hospice.
