MILLIGAN – Leslie Bean, director of human resources at Milligan University, was recently recognized as a rising star in the regional business community by the Business Journal of Tri-Cities TN/VA.
Bean was included among this year’s class of 40 Under Forty honorees, a group comprised of professionals in our region under the age of 40 who excel in the workplace while serving others in their respective communities. In her role at Milligan, Bean has been the driving force behind the modernization of the university’s payroll and benefit administration systems while also displaying the heart of a servant-leader by volunteering in her community and her church.
“I would like to congratulate Leslie on this well-deserved honor,” said Milligan President Dr. Bill Greer. “God has blessed us at Milligan with faculty and staff members who are dedicated to modeling true servant-leadership in the workplace, their communities and their churches. Leslie epitomizes the type of servant-leadership we strive to pass on to the men and women who come to Milligan for a Christ-centered education.”
In addition to her work in Milligan’s human resources department, Bean has also served on the board of the Tennessee Chapter of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources. The chapter received the Southern Region Chapter of Excellence Award during her tenure.
Bean also volunteers at a local elementary school and has held several leadership roles in her church, most recently helping establish a personnel committee.
Bean was selected by an independent panel of judges and was honored along with the rest of this year’s 40 Under Forty class at an event in Johnson City last month.
