Delores Stevens Simerly, 90, of Hampton, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born April 23, 1933 in Carter County to the late Montie G. and Bonnie Roark Stevens.
Delores was a 1951 graduate of Hampton High School. She was a homemaker and was a Free Will Baptist.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn Simerly Sr., and a son, Vaughn Simerly Jr.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Joey McNeil; a daughter-in-law, Julia Simerly; two grandsons, Keith McNeil and Justin Simerly; and a sister-in-law, Parlee Simerly.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, November 24, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jim Holtsclaw officiating. Active pallbearers will be Keith McNeil, Justin Simerly, Joey McNeil, Wayne Johnson, Edward Simerly and Jamie McKinney. Honorary pallbearers will be John L. McKinney and Elwood Simerly. The family would like to express a special thank you to Lori McKinney Watson. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Friday, prior to the service.
