Carolyn Kay Stout, 80, of Hampton, Tenn., passed at her home Sunday, November 19, 2023, after complications related to multiple long-term illnesses.
Born in Lamar, Texas on March 17, 1943, Carolyn later lived in New Jersey, but always called the mountains of East Tennessee her home. She was the oldest daughter of the late James Mervin and Mary Maxine Campbell Stout, one of seven siblings, and grew up in Hampton, Tenn., where she resided until her death.
Carolyn loved springtime and the joys of growing roses and flowers. She was an avid cook, working many years at Community Daycare Center preparing meals for children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Marie Johnson and Sherry Ollinger, and a grandchild, Everleigh Rayne Nave.
Survivors include one son, Charles “Chuck” Nave, wife April Nave, and two grandchildren, Memphis and Sadie Nave, of Hampton; two sisters, Debbie Stout of Hampton and Vickey Tipton of Sweetwater; and two brothers, Dennis Stout and wife Nancy of Elizabethton and David “Duck” Stout and wife Toni of Elizabethton.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 28, from 11 a.m. until noon. A graveside service will be conducted by Jerry Stout at 12:30 p.m. at Morton Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from close family and friends.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the nurses and staff of Kingsport Gentiva Hospice. They went above and beyond to ensure Carolyn’s final days were peaceful and pain free.
