FROM STAFF REPORTS
Keep Carter County Beautiful invites community members to participate in a Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) “No Trash November Tweetsie Trail Cleanup” on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m. The cleanup effort aims to enhance the beauty of the Tweetsie Trail, a local treasure that spans from behind the Coffee Company at 444 E. Elk Ave. to the Trailhead at Snap-on Tools.
Volunteers are requested to convene in the parking lot behind the Coffee Company for a collective effort in tackling litter and trash along the trail. To facilitate the cleanup, Keep Carter County Beautiful will provide gloves, safety vests, garbage bags, and grabbers. Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, and water will be provided to keep everyone refreshed during the event.
The cleanup initiative adheres to all safety rules and regulations set forth by TDOT. Prior to attending, volunteers are encouraged to visit the Keep Carter County Beautiful website at www.kccbtn.org/events to view the TDOT safety video. Additionally, all volunteers must sign a TDOT waiver (TOOT waiver) before actively participating in the cleanup efforts.
Did you know that littering in Tennessee can result in a hefty $500 fine? On a positive note, there’s a $50 reward for individuals providing evidence leading to a conviction for littering. This cleanup event not only contributes to the visual appeal of the community but also serves as an opportunity for residents to actively engage in preserving the environment.
Keep Carter County Beautiful encourages all interested individuals to join hands in making a positive impact on the local environment. By participating in the “No Trash November Tweetsie Trail Cleanup,” community members contribute to a cleaner, more beautiful landscape and promote awareness about the importance of responsible waste disposal.
