Ray Williams, 93, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Hermitage Health Center. He was born March 4, 1930 in Elizabethton.
Ray was a retired SSGT from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Era. He also retired from the TVA after 20 years of service. He was a member of the VFW.
Ray loved to play the guitar. He was a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kitty Williams; a son, Kevin Williams; a brother, JC Williams; and a great-grandson, Derrick Williams.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Onie Oliver Williams; three daughters, Geraldine Williams, Loretta Brown and Tenessa Munal and husband Robert “Butch” Munal; one son, James Fulton; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and his four legged fur baby “Daisy.”
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Brian Smith officiating. Music will be provided by Dennis Laws. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Robert “Butch” Munal, Sammy Williams, Jerry Oliver, Dewayne Badgett, Ray Deloach and Jeff Caldwell. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Hermitage Rehab and Amedisys Hospice for their kindness and care.
