Peggy Sue Moore’s faith became sight on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Estel Peters and Reba Elizabeth Peters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ricky Peters.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Christy Moore of Kingsport and Beth Moore of Nashville; two granddaughters, Malana Griffey of Knoxville and McKinley Griffey of Elizabethton; two sisters, Patsy Davis (Lawrence) and Betty Frazier (Wes), all of Elizabethton; two brothers, CJ Peters (Debbie) of Elizabethton and Darrell Peters (Lynda) of Johnson City; special niece, Kelsey Frazier Hodge (Jeremy) of Elizabethton; lifelong friend, Martha White; dear friend, Judy Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.
Peggy worked as the Bookkeeper and Secretary at Westside Elementary School for 20 years. After working at Westside, she was the Librarian’s assistant for six years at Elizabethton High School where she retired.
Peggy was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was raised and baptized at her church and went on numerous mission trips. She enjoyed her position as the church clerk for 15 years and had served as Chairman of the Social Committee for many years. Peggy loved spending time with her family, friends and especially her granddaughters.
A service to celebrate the life of Peggy Sue Moore will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, November 6, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Sorah officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service.
The graveside service and interment will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 7, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Mark Newman officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are her brothers, CJ Peters and Darrell Peters as well as Paul Stout, Joe Collins, Chad McCelland, Jeff Aycock, Derrick Mussard, Gary White and nephews. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Abigail Gass, Megan and Jerry with Amedysis Hospice, Eric and Marsha at Lingerfelt and all her beloved church family at Calvary Baptist Church for all their loving care, compassion and support during this difficult time. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Calvary Baptist Church Mission Fund, 225 Holly Lane, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
