Barbara Ann Proffitt Bowers, 88, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas and Julia Katherine Taylor Proffitt.
Barbara was a graduate of Unaka High School. She was a homemaker and loved to cook. Barbara was a member of Stoney Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Bowers; a grandson, Joseph Daniel Campbell; and two sisters, Lorraine Taylor and Izetta Proffitt.
Survivors include two daughters, Julie Yankee and Sherry Campbell; one son-in-law, Myron Yankee; five grandchildren, Tony Taylor Jr. (Jessica), Jaclyn Gifford, Jessie Cowden (Jordan), Savannah Yankee and Dylan Yankee; eight great-grandchildren, Makayla Taylor, Mason Taylor, Maddux Taylor, Dalton Powell, Delilah Powell, Cadence Buttars, Damien Cowden and Dahlia Cowden; and one sister, Hildred Robinson, Nicholsville, Ky.
A visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 8. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 13, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev.
