Carter County Sheriff’s Office and Elizabethton Police Department report recent arrests

The Carter County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:
- Deputy Cory Locklear assisted Deputy T. Holtsclaw on a traffic stop near Lambert’s Produce on Highway 19E. Christine Gail Long was arrested on an active warrant for failure to appear out of Carter County General Sessions Court. Lt. Christopher Reichenbach arrested Nathan Paul Oliver, who had an active warrant for failure to appear in Carter County Juvenile Court. The arrest was made without incident.
- Deputy Jared Shelton responded to a domestic disturbance on Sims Hill Road on September 25. Ryan Alexander Thomas was arrested for assault as domestic violence.
- Corrections Officer Kevin Kemp took Michael James Elliott Thomure into custody on an active warrant for violation of probation issued by the General Sessions Court of Carter County on September 25.
- Patrol Lt. Eric Norman, Deputy Sheriff Hunter Skalecki, and Deputy Sheriff Spencer Rhea responded to Dugger Branch Road on September 26, for an active warrant service. Paul Wayne Peters was taken into custody on an active warrant for aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
- Deputy Tyler Holsclaw observed a white Chevrolet Silverado making suspicious movements and attempting to avoid a traffic stop on September 26. The vehicle had a stolen license plate and the driver, Brandon Jamie Garland, was arrested for various charges including driving on revoked and possession of stolen property.
- Deputy Storm Scalf responded to a motor vehicle accident on Bristol Highway on September 27. The driver, John Raymond Dennis, was found to have a revoked driver’s license and no insurance. He was placed under arrest for driving while revoked and financial responsibility – no insurance.
- Deputy Zachary Whaley and Sgt. Robbie Scott responded to a domestic disturbance at H Heaton Road on September 27. Steven Shane Bateman was arrested for assault as domestic violence.
- Deputy Christian Carrier arrested Angela Jonelle O’Brien on warrants out of Carter County Criminal Court. O’Brien was taken into custody at the Washington County Detention Center and transported to the Carter County Detention Center.
- Lt. Johnathan Blevins, in collaboration with the Kingsport Police Department, arrested Kayla Arlene Mumford on September 29. She had an active warrant out of Carter County Criminal Court for violation of probation with a Hold/No Bond. The arrest was made without incident.
- Deputy Tyler Holsclaw and Deputy Tremblay were working a motor vehicle crash on Bristol Highway on September 29. A black Jeep Grand Cherokee stopped in an active roadway, and the operator, Michael Wade Peters, began behaving aggressively. Peters was arrested for DUI, driving on roadways laned for traffic, and violation of implied consent law.
- Captain Daniel Kneaskern arrested Scottie Lee Reece, who was found intoxicated in a ditch along Bristol Highway on September 29. Reece was taken into custody and transported to the detention center.
- Deputy C. Locklear responded to a report of dark smoke emanating from Bailey Street on October 1. Upon investigation, it was discovered that Gene Shane Peavy was in possession of a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine. After questioning and search consent, Peavy was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and taken to the Carter County Detention Center. Heather Geeter, present at the scene, had an active warrant out of Sullivan County and was arrested and transported accordingly.
- Deputies Jeremiah Bartlett and Thomas Hill executed a warrant service on John Harvey Gibson, who had a warrant for assault out of Carter County General Sessions Court. The arrest was made without incident.
- On October 1, Lt. Johnathan Blevins, in collaboration with the Johnson City Police Department, arrested Edward Eugene Stines Jr., who had active warrants out of Carter County General Sessions Court for failure to appear and violation of probation. The arrest was made without incident.
- On October 2, Lt. Johnathan Blevins, in collaboration with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a warrant service at the Sinking Creek Baptist Church. The subject of the arrest was Robbie Allen Bowman, who had an active warrant out of Carter County General Sessions Court for violation of probation with a $25,000 bond. Bowman was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Carter County Detention Center.
The Elizabethton Police Department reports the following arrests:
- On September 29, Officer Justin Pearce responded to reports of suspicious subjects at Dairy Queen on Bemberg Road. Stephanie Nicole Mays was walking from Mountain City to Johnson City. Mays exhibited erratic behavior, leading to a standard field sobriety test. Due to her apparent influence of alcohol or drugs, Mays was arrested for public intoxication. She was transported to CCSO.
- On September 30, Officer Rocky Croy was dispatched to CCSO regarding a disorderly male, Gerron Dewitt Chekelelee, threatening employees. Due to his high level of intoxication, Gerron was arrested for public intoxication and taken to CCSO.
- On October 1, Officer Rocky Croy responded to a call about a male passed out in the grass at Covered Bridge Park. Julian C. Smith, found near an open bottle of liquor, displayed signs of intoxication and was arrested for public intoxication and drug paraphernalia. He was transported to CCSO.
- On October 2, Officer Erin Potter was dispatched to Ingram Street for a domestic disturbance. A mutual altercation involving Crimson Falardeau and Megan Michelle Abernethy led to both being arrested for domestic assault. They were taken to CCSO.
- On October 3, Officer Nicholas Kerns responded to a report of a possibly intoxicated subject on West G St. Willis Ricky Oneal, found to be highly impaired, was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Carter County Detention Center.
- On October 3, Officer Erin Potter arrested Dalton Clay Reece, who had turned himself in. Reece had an active warrant from Carter County Criminal Court and was taken to CCSO.
- On October 4, Officer Spencer Ward encountered Sidney Q. Jones at Covered Bridge Park. He was arrested for violating an active order of protection and transported to CCSO.
- On October 4, Officer Nicholas Kerns conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle without operational headlights or taillights. David L. Thomas Jr., a passenger, was arrested for an active warrant out of Carter County Criminal Court. Methamphetamine was found, leading to additional charges. Thomas was transported to CCSO.
