An escaped inmate, 25-year-old Timothy Reece, is back in custody after fleeing from officers during medical treatment at a local hospital. Reece had been arrested the previous day on outstanding warrants for violation of probation and failure to appear in court.
Following his booking into the Carter County Detention Center, Reece displayed symptoms of a potential drug overdose, prompting medical staff to transport him to a nearby hospital for treatment. While at the hospital, Reece managed to escape from custody, fleeing on foot at approximately 10:30 pm on Saturday.
Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Carter County Sheriff’s Office, the Elizabethton Police Department, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, responded to the escape incident. A thorough search was conducted throughout the night, primarily in the west end of Elizabethton.
On Sunday morning, at around 9 am, officers located and apprehended Reece in the 1700 block of West G Street, returning him to custody.
The investigation into Reece’s escape is ongoing, and authorities are considering additional charges in connection with the incident.
