Wallace Phipps, 88, of Watauga, Tenn., went home to be with his Mother and his Lord on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Hillview Health and Rehabilitation Center of Elizabethton. Wallace was born on June 3, 1935, to the late Alton Wallace Phipps Sr. and Ruby Ann (Peters) Phipps Blevins and his stepfather, Walter H. Blevins.
Wallace had been employed at Holston Defense in Kingsport for over 23 years and was a United States Army veteran. He was a funny man who loved to jokingly “pick on” people and make them smile and laugh. He was a very giving and selfless man that had a love for Native Americans and was very patriotic to his country.
Wallace was a lifelong member of the First Church of God in Watauga and loved to garden and share his vegetables with friends and neighbors. He was a beekeeper and enjoyed being at the river and enjoying the outdoors. He would walk the hills and just enjoy God’s beauty.
Wallace leaves behind many friends, neighbors and family and they will miss his kindness and love.
A service to celebrate Wallace’s life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, September 17, at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Pastor Dorothy Hall officiating. A visitation will be conducted in the funeral home chapel from 5:30 until 7 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service.
