To the Editor:
Everyone likes to see beautiful and unique things. God has blessed East Tennessee with some beautiful and unique things to see. The Covered Bridge is the most well-known popular unique landmarks of Elizabethton. It is 141 years old and was built in 1882. In 2016 it was named the Top Covered Bridge in the U.S. by readers of USA Today. The Elizabethton Covered Bridge Days will have a rare free concert on Sunday, Sept. 24, with Christian singer Colton Dixon.
People come from all over America to visit the world’s largest natural rhododendron gardens atop beautiful Roan Mountain. Now Brights Zoo in Limestone has an animal born on July 31, 2023, no other zoo in the world has, and people are coming from other countries to see the rarest living giraffe on the planet. The giraffe is rare because it was born without a pattern. The giraffe was just named Kipepee which is Swahili for unique.
Fewer Americans than ever know the unique and positive effects of Jesus. Isaiah 26:3 says,”Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee (Jesus). Because he trust in thee (Jesus).” One day God will wipe away all tears. Until that day God will give us peace if we focus on the prince of peace, Jesus! Only Jesus can give peace and only with Jesus can we rest in peace. The book, “What if Jesus Had Never Been Born,” by the late Dr. D. James Kennedy, documented how Jesus had the most positive effect of anyone in history. Jesus was the only person in history so important that he changed time from B.C. to A.D. Christians have done more than any group or religion to promote education and literacy worldwide. Christians have built thousands of hospitals and orphanages all over the world. Organizations started by Christians such as the Salvation Army and Red Cross have helped millions. Charles Murray, an agnostic and libertarian scholar, in his book, “Human Accomplishment,” found that Christianity underlies most of human accomplishment. For positive impact Jesus reigns supreme.
Without question Jesus is the most unique an important person to ever live. No one even comes close. We celebrate the unique virgin birth of Jesus at Christmas and Jesus’ unique resurrection from the dead at Easter. Paraphrasing the end of a poem by James Allen Francis best shows the importance of Jesus. “Twenty centuries have come and gone and today Jesus is the central figure of the human race. I am well within the mark when I say that all the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the governments that ever sat, all the kings that ever reigned – put together – have not affected the life of man on this earth as much as that one, solitary life!” The happiest day for Christians is the day they see Jesus and hear the beautiful words from Jesus, “well done good and faithful servant!”
In these end days someone correctly said we are suffering from truth decay and need to brush up on our Holy Bible. Jesus alone is the way, the truth and life. The Bible in Revelation 5 says Jesus alone is worthy to take the scroll which is the title deed to earth and open the scroll and control the future. All Christians will soon be enjoying the beauty of Heaven and hear beautiful singing from Heaven. The first thing Christians will sing is, “Thou are worthy to take the book and to open the seals thereof for you was slain, and redeemed us to God by your blood out of every kindred, and tongue and people and nation.” All the universe will hear, “Blessing and honor and glory and power be unto him that sits upon the throne and unto the Lamb (Jesus) forever and ever!
