Ronnie Gene Morton, 76, of Hampton, Tenn., went home to be with his Lord and his daughter on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Hillview Health Center. Ronnie was born on September 5, 1946 and was the son of the late William Henry Morton and Ruth Morton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Jeanine Morton, and his loving pet, Piper.
Ronnie was a graduate of Happy Valley High School and East Tennessee State University. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years from 1966 to 1970. He was a retired Teacher and Technology Coordinator for Elizabethton City Schools.
Ronnie was a member of Hampton Christian Church and attended Roan Mountain United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lucelia Shull Morton, of the home; daughter, Kristie Cormany and husband Matt; four grandsons, Samuel Cormany and wife Morgan, Joshua Cormany and wife Amber, Noah Cormany and Gabriel Cormany; two great-granddaughters; two-great grandsons; two sisters, Brenda Hart and husband Claude, and Debbie Miller and husband Tim; and several nieces and nephews all of whom he loved dearly.
A funeral service for Ronnie will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Amber Cormany, Morgan Cormany, Julie Jaynes and Rev. Dr. Steve Castle. The family will receive friends between the hours of 1 and 2 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service.
The graveside service and committal will follow in the Whitehead Cemetery, Hampton, with Rebecca Brumitt officiating. Pallbearers are Samuel Cormany, Joshua Cormany, Noah Cormany, Gabriel Cormany, Chris Hart and David Hart. Honorary pallbearers are Tony Townsend, Tony Deloach and Brandon Arnett. Military Honors will be accorded by Veterans Honor Guard DAV#39. The family would like to give a special thanks to Hillview Health Center and Gentiva Hospice Care physicians and staff for all their loving care and support during this difficult time.
