JoAnn Greenwell, 78, of Hampton, Tenn., entered into her forever home early Monday morning, September 4, 2023, after a recent illness she endured gracefully. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Alvin and Anna Edler; her beloved husband, Willard Greenwell; and a brother, John Edler.
JoAnn will forever be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit. JoAnn was a Baltimore, Md., native but had spent her later years in Hampton, Tenn. She was employed at Delta Chemical for over 30 years. She loved the fresh flowers of springtime and NASCAR, reading, crab cakes from “The Sunset” and most of all spending time with her family and friends.
Those left to treasure her memory are her two sons, Jimmy Greenwell and Dave and Amy Greenwell; her granddaughter, Kelsey Vance and special granddaughters, Laura Bowen, Dakota Barton, Courtney Dockery and Cody Dockery; her lifelong best friend, Lisa Gruley; and a special friend, Phyllis Walker.
A celebration of JoAnn’s life will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 9, at the Sugar Grove Baptist Church in Johnson County with Rev. Terry Dugger officiating. The family will receive friends at the church between the hours of 12 and 1 p.m. The graveside service will follow in the Sugar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Pam Mosley and Caris Hospice for their love and care shown to both JoAnn and her family.
