Judy Ann Frazier Blankenship, 75, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at her residence.
Judy was proud to be from Stoney Creek and honored to be a Unaka Ranger alumni. She took great pride in being a nurse. Judy practiced at Carter County Memorial Hospital and finished her career at the Veteran’s Administration Mountain Home. She was a part of the First Church of God in Elizabethton.
In Judy’s own words, “I do love books. I, in my old age, enjoy reading. I
suppose right now in my life it is what I enjoy most of all, besides my family. They are my most wonderful blessing.” She encouraged all who met her to read. “The more you read, the more things you know.”
Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting any donations be made to the Elizabethton-Carter County Public Library, 201 N. Sycamore Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643. We ask you request the money be used for the purchase of books.
Also, my mother would be overjoyed if any of you would share a passage from your favorite book with others and donate a copy to your local community book box in honor of our mother, Judy Blankenship.
Judy was a daughter of the late John Frazier Jr. and Greta Smith Frazier.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Larry Blankenship, who passed away September 17, 2017, and two brothers, Michael and Johnny Frazier.
Survivors include her daughter, Tina Parlier; her son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Jovonna Blankenship; three grandchildren, Nikki Collins and husband Bryant, Samuel Parlier and wife Brooke and Sawyer Parlier; and four great-grandchildren, Brylee, Hadley, Caylen and Hazel.
It was her wish to be cremated and no services are planned.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is serving the Blankenship family.
