Lavada Evelyn Carr Carver, 89, Johnson City, went home to be with her Lord, on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the Johnson City Medical Center.  A native of Carter County, she was raised in Elizabethton.  She was the daughter of the late Haskel S. and Vera Davis Carr.  She was a cook at Milligan College and Happy Valley Elementary School.  She also worked at Appalachian Christian Village for 20 years before she retired in 1996. She was a member of the Harvestine Apostolic Church and Gateway Apostolic Church, where her sons are Pastors Tim and Terry Carver.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Frank Carver, a daughter-in-law, Bessie Carver, a sister, Mary Peaks and a brother, Robert Carr. Grandson-in-law: Cory McCool.
     Survivors include her sons Terry Carver and wife Lois of Johnson City, Tim Carver and wife Sherrie of Gray and Benny Carver of the home. Eight Grandchildren: Jeremy Carver and wife Salissa, Joel Carver and wife Jeni, Jina McCool Suarez and husband Tony, Andrea Parsons and husband Leonard, Melinda Glover and husband Greg, Justin Carver and wife Amanda, Michael Carver and wife Scottie and Jennifer Carver.  Eleven great-grandchildren:  Kelsey, Mylon, Sierra, Taylor, Oliva, Kaylee, Maycie, Evan, Amara, Gunter and Italia. Four Brothers: Roe S. Carr, Sherril C. Carr, Grady W. Carr and Haskel Carr, Jr.  One Sister: Vera Mae Carr.  Several nieces and nephews.
     A Service to Celebrate the Life of Lavada Carver will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2023, in the First Apostolic Church of Johnson City with Pastor Edward Davis and her Grandsons, Jeremy and Joel Carver officiating.  The Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023, in the Carver-Grindstaff Cemetery, Fairview Community, Hampton.  Music will be provided by her Grandchildren and Lou Miller.  Active Pallbearers will be: Jeremy Carver, Joel Carver, Justin Carver, Michael Carver, Leonard Parsons, Greg Glover and Tony Suarez.  The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery.
