Kenneth Stewart Hinkle, 64, of Hastings, Mich., passed away on August 6, 2023, at his home in Hastings, Mich.
Ken was born on September 15, 1958 in Wilmington, Ohio, the son of the late Kermit and Rose (Whitt) Hinkle. He was raised in the East Tennessee area, and attended local school, graduating from Elizabethton High School in 1976. After completing his education, Ken joined the United States Navy, serving on a nuclear submarine, completing his service and being honorably discharged in 1984.
After completing his Naval service, Ken returned to East Tennessee and was employed as an HVAC Technician & Trainer. Over the years Ken worked for various companies, throughout the United States, ending his career as a technician trainer.
In 1986, he met Kathy (Seaman) Hinkle while working in East Tennessee and the couple was married in 1988 in North Branch, Mich. Ken and Kathy spent the majority of their married lives together in Tennessee.
During the summer months, Ken enjoyed spending an afternoon fishing, usually wherever he could “get a line wet.” During his downtime he also enjoyed online gaming, especially “World of Warcraft.”
Ken is survived by his beloved wife Kathy; his daughter, Stephanie Hinkle; his siblings, Rosetta (Jarrett) Lunceford, Elizabethton, Sherry Shelton of Colorado, and Sandy (Roger) Parsons of Colorado; and three nephews, also in Elizabethton.
Ken was preceded in death by his son, Kenny Hinkle, and nephew, Jeremy Hinkle.
