Rise and Shine TN, in partnership with Together Collective, Ruby Amanfu and Sam Ashworth, will be gathering with Tennessee children to join in song at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, in anticipation of the TN General Assembly’s Special Session that begins on Monday.
Kids are invited to gather on the steps of Legislative Plaza to come together in song in front of their state Capitol building. The children will sing “This Little Light of Mine,” led by Amanfu.
Together Collective will perform Amanfu’s co-composition “A Beautiful Noise,” which was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2022 Grammy Awards. Ashworth and Amanfu will also perform “No Courage Without Fear.”
This is a community-oriented event to attempt to re-center the special session on the importance of children’s safety.
There will be a short, non-partisan call to leaders to protect kids from gun violence from Maryam Abolfazli and Ruby Amanfu. Elected leaders are also invited to speak.
