2nd Timothy 4:7:
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
Sadie Mae Jenkins Vaughn, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 7, 2023.
A native of Screven County, Ga., she was born March 22, 1939 to the late Daniel Triggs Jenkins and Jessie Elizabeth Jenkins. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Joe and John Jenkins.
Sadie attended Screven County High School and Snead College.
She leaves us to be reunited with her loving husband of 54 years, Ray Bennie Vaughn. Married in 1958, they made their home in Elizabethton, Tenn., where they raised their three boys. They were both devoted members of Stoney Creek Church of Christ.
Sadie worked alongside her husband at Coleman’s Studio as well as Olan Mills. An artist at heart, she often used her talents to retouch and restore photographs. She also had a great interest in genealogy and had traced her ancestry back many generations. Her love of flowers and plants was evident as she was an avid gardener.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her three sons and daughters-in-law, Bennie and Juanita Vaughn, Brian and Linda Vaughn, all of Elizabethton, and David and Judy Vaughn of High Point, N.C.; beloved grandchildren, Marie (Chris) Hill, Ashley (Andrew) Vaughn, Cindy Vaughn, Brianna (Josh) Broyles, Justin Vaughn and Travis Vaughn; and cherished great-grandchildren, Olivia Natusch, Kiley Natusch, Bently Broyles, Cora Hill, Harmony Broyles, Dylan Natusch, Melody Broyles, Presley Broyles, Henry Broyles, Natalie Vaughn Sazbo, and Marshall Hill. Also many beloved friends and family in Georgia and at home.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 13, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Wesley Simons, minister, officiating. Music will be by the congregation. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
