In soccer or hockey, most fans know that a ‘hat trick’ is when an individual scores three goals but what is the term for when a player scores four goals?
That term is ‘haul’ and that is exactly what the T.A. Dugger Jr. Cyclones did on Tuesday evening at Citizens Bank Stadium as standout athlete Vella Nave single-handedly helped haul the visiting Church Hill Jr. Lady Panthers to their awaiting bus as the lanky Lady Jr. Cyclone netted four goals to help lead TAD to a 5-2 victory.
The Jr. Lady Cyclones had won two of their three pre-season scrimmages and jamboree and were looking to keep that momentum going.
After a close contest and the Jr. Lady Cyclones holding on to a 3-2 advantage with 10 minutes left to play in the contest when Nave took a pass on the left side of the Jr. Lady Panther net and blasted a shot by the Church Hill goalkeeper to extend the lead to 4-2.
To put the cherry on top, Nave recorded her fourth score with under three minutes to play on a beautifully placed corner kick from sixth grader Sabrah Smith to Nave, who was waiting at point-blank range in front of the Lady Panther goal to give the game its final margin of victory, 5-2.
Smith also was responsible for the Jr. Lady Cyclones other score in the contest.
