JONESBOROUGH – Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to quickly solve a burglary and recover stolen items thanks to muddy conditions.
According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies arrested Mitchal L. Snyder, 39, of Gray, for aggravated burglary, possession of stolen property and theft over $1,000 after he left behind a trail of muddy tire tracks.
Deputies began an investigation after a residence on Sargent King Road in the Oak Grove Area of Gray was burglarized on Aug. 4. Deputies initially learned that property had been taken from both the inside and outside of the residence. On Aug. 5, deputies located a jet ski stolen during the burglary and then followed muddy tire tracks in the road to a residence on Teresa Road, also in Gray.
At the end of the tracks, deputies made contact with Snyder and discovered the majority of the stolen property on scene. Snyder was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the Washington County Detention Center on a $26,000 bond. He did make bond, and his initial court appearance is slated for Aug. 7.
