On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, heaven gained the most special angel. Elizabeth went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she loved.
Elizabeth loved riding around different places with her family, enjoying the beauty of the mountains she was raised and lived in. She loved her flowers, enjoyed cooking, gospel music, and going to yard sales with her Momma, looking for a “Good Deal,” but most of all she loved being a wife to her husband Ben, a mother to her two boys Justin and Laney, and a mother-in-law to Bryanna.
Left to cherish her memory is her wonderful husband, Ben Turbyfill, of 29 years; two amazing sons, Justin (Bryanna) Turbyfill of Watauga and Laney Turbyfill of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; her parents, Elwood and Susie Clawson of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; sisters, Delwood (Adam) Turbyfill of Elk Park, N.C., Verle (Henry) Clawson, Kimberly (Michael) Burchfield and Brittany (JR) Arnett, all of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; brothers, Elwood (Barbara) Clawson, Gathie (Regina) Clawson and Matthew (Leslie) Clawson, all of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; father and mother-in-law, Earl and Frances Turbyfill of Elk Park, N.C.; brother and sisters-in-law, Robert (Dessi) Turbyfill, Jackie (Josh) Gragg and Amy (Eric) Street, all of Elk Park, N.C. Elizabeth had 24 nieces and nephews and 11 great-nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Elizabeth was a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church of Elk Park, N.C.
A service to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Pastor Lynn Pierce officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service.
The graveside service will follow in the Turbyfill Family Cemetery, 3408 Elk River Road, Elk Park, NC 28622. Active pallbearers will be Adam Turbyfill, Justin Turbyfill, Laney Turbyfill, Dustin Clawson, Nate Clawson and Amos Clawson. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Turbyfill, Elwood Clawson, Gathie Clawson, Matthew Clawson, Austin Clawson and Anthony Clawson. The family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors and staff at Ballad Health Radiation Oncology (JC), Ballad Health Cancer Center (JC), Ballad Health Hospitals, Ballad Health Hospice Care, and UT Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
