Thanks to Tennessee Senator Rusty Crowe, the Tipton-Haynes Historical Association was awarded the opportunity to design a Tennessee specialty license plate. The basis of the plate design comes from the original Tennessee state flag. From 1897 to 1905, a tricolor flag of diagonal red, blue, and white represented the three geographical divisions of the state instead of the current three stars. The state nickname of “The Volunteer State” and the number “16” which represented the order of when the state was admitted to the Union completed the flag.
Tipton-Haynes now has been tasked with collecting 1,000 orders at the cost of $35 per plate to complete the process of having our own specialty plate. Proceeds from this fundraiser will assist the Tipton-Haynes non-profit each time a plate is sold.
